C is for Cake
As in CakePHP. If you are writing Websites using PHP and want a more structured "on Rails" approach, try CakePHP. You need Apache and PHP of course and you'll get your hands dirty with code. There's a good step by step here from IBM DeveloperWorks. Yes, yes, I work for IBM but it's still (a) free and (b) good.
