It's a lot <span style="font-weight:bold;">easier</span> searching for ancestors online than in person at government records offices. <br /><br />Try these sites for starters: <a href="http://www.ancestry.com/">Ancestry.com</a>. Useful searching before it gets expensive. Can't argue with <a href="http://www.census.gov/population/www/ancestry.html">the US Census</a>. Haven't tried it but <a href="http://www.kindredkonnections.com/">My Trees</a> looks OK.
