OK, so number 3 is really the same as number 5, but with a different body. It's the rear transaxle of an '80s model Alfa Romeo. Technically interesting - but it's just a scan of the Alfa Romeo brochure... why is it number 3?

Of course looking under a 1982 model Alfa Romeo GTV would rate 4th on my list of hottest Flickr pics. Of course it would. Hmmm. Well it's a bit unusual in that there's a deDion tube, a rear-mounted transaxle and inboard disc brakes... you don't see that sort of stuff these days. But 4th overall?

Well it's an action shot, and a bit fuzzy. It's a road car - again that darned Alfa - pretending to be a racer... and it's at a track that's destined to close RSN (in 2009). Is that what has driven this shot to Number 5?

Various image resources and thoughts
Began the journey in Enmore, Sydney, Oz; drifted tectonically north after a bit to see trees and breathe air. Learnt about global warming in 1975, believed it by 1989. Warned my parents that Woy Woy would go under the waves, hasn't happened yet - but by gosh it will happen some day! Really old now, was young once. Read a few books, got too many ideas, a camera and a bike (or 10). Serial owner of Italian cars; made sense at the time. Intense. Distracted. Collected wife and kids along the way. Work in IT, because I can. Still ride and race bikes. Not overly optimistic. Live on a hill, waiting for tsunami.
